I just learned that today is Pregnancy After Loss Awareness Day. In light of this, I thought there’s no better time to announce that I am seven weeks pregnant. It’s exciting and also scary to share this—I’m not very far along and we haven’t even had our first ultrasound yet. But we need all the love, support, and prayers we can get so I’m just going to put this out there. We’re hoping for a Rainbow Baby, which is the subject of the podcast I‘ll be launching very soon.
A Rainbow Baby is defined as a baby born subsequent to a miscarriage, stillbirth, or the death of an infant from natural causes. I want to share my journey to our Rainbow Baby because life after pregnancy loss can be so isolating. I plan to record podcast episodes with updates throughout my pregnancy, knowing very well that it may not go full term, and will also include conversations with others who have walked this path before me.
I know many of you out there might also be hoping for your own Rainbow Baby. My heart is with you and I hope my story, along with the stories from others, will be a light to anyone who is struggling.
