16 Weeks Pregnant

Baby is the size of a naval orange and I’ve definitely got a visible bump now! I started feeling the baby kick consistently this week, which is just the best. Hunter got to feel him kick, too, by placing his hand on my belly. Every time I feel him kick it makes him that much more real—I’m really starting to envision holding him in my arms one day soon.

My energy has returned (compared to the slog of the first trimester) and I’m feeling a strong urge to nest. We’ve been working on little projects around the house and have started thinking about the baby’s space. It’s mostly exciting but there’s still a little part of me that fears setting up a nursery until the certainty of the baby’s arrival. However I don’t want to live in fear so I’m trying not to make decisions based on those thoughts.

I am HUNGRY all the time. I can tell my metabolism has kicked up a notch and I feel good listening to my body’s cues. After eating breakfast when I wake up I’m hungry again around 11am. Several times this week I’ve walked around the house in the afternoon with a bag of popcorn. I’ve gained about 10 lbs so far. Women’s bodies are amazing!

We finally settled on our birth plan—a scheduled repeat c-section. I feel a lot of peace about it after consulting with several doctors and am actually looking forward to it! I share more on episode 21 of my Rainbow Baby podcast.
