At the beginning of March I travelled to NYC for the 2012 National Art Education Association Conference along with about 7,000 art educators from all over the country, accounting for one of the largest conventions yet (I imagine it would be difficult for anyone interested in the arts to turn down a visit to New York City). Some highlights of my trip were spending a day perusing Brooklyn with my friend and colleague, Danielle Schulz; visiting The Brooklyn Art Library and seeing my mom's sketchbook (!); tasting chocolate at Mast Brothers; attending the Museum Education Pre-Conference on digital learning held across various museums such as The Metropolitan, MoMA, and Guggenheim; giving two presentations--one on my thesis research and the other with Danielle on cultivating artistic abilities in people with disabilities; listening to an amazing presentation on creativity from Art21 artist, Janine Antoni; seeing the Cindy Sherman retrospective at MoMA; and going to my first Whitney Biennial. Overall it was a fabulous trip full of amazing art, ideas, and inspiration. Here is a series of photos I took with Instagram on my iPhone...
